'Coleism'
Congress gave us 'Bork', the liberal press gave us 'Dowdism', and now Tennessee gives us 'Coleism'.Kent Coleman is a Democrat freshman representative from Murfreesboro who answered all the questions on an NRA survey the right way, specifically stating that he would support the bill to remove the prohibitions on restaurants that serve alcohol and the bill to relax Tennessee's reciprocity standards. As a result, Coleman received an 'A' rating from the NRA and beat his Republican opponent by 38 votes.
Strangely, the Domcrat-controlled House assigned Coleman to the House Judiciary Committee and the 'Constitutional Protections' subcommittee, where he immediately began waffling on his stated positions. He said that he had not heard from his constituents. The TFA put out the call and hundreds of people called his office (we know this from the response we got and by talking to the person answering the phone in Coleman's office).
Claiming that he was opposing the bills (which he supported on the NRA survey) because his chief of police did not like them nor did some of his restaurant owners (i.e., the big money from the restaurant lobby).
He voted against the bills.
Thus a new term was born:
Coleism: making representations on an NRA survey to induce a good rating for the purpose of obtaining a public office but having no intention of honoring your word.
aka Spinless Bastard.
BTW, Cole will be targeted in the next election. He'd better get his war chest ready, 'cause we're gunning for him!
