Musharraf Calls for Tolerance
Pakistan President Musharraf had some interesting words to say in a speech in Canada:
Christian and Muslim communities must do more to understand and trust each other, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf said during a speech in Canada Thursday.Well said.Too many people in the West think Islam is a fundamentalist religion full of militant extremists, he told the Canadian Institute for Strategic Studies. And too may Muslims think their faith is being unfairly attacked in the fight against global terrorism, he added.
"Both are wrong," Musharraf said. The West must treat Muslims with justice, and Muslims must embrace "enlightened moderation."
