The Face of Terror
Terrorism was dealt a blow this week when 33-year-old Ahmed Hassan Al-Uqaily was arrested in Nashville.Born in Iraq, Al-Uqaily plotted to purchase machine guns, hand grenades and anti-tank missiles so he could "go jihad". Thankfully, a "vigilant individual" who knew Al-Uqaily heard him rant and was startled by his angry tone, so he alerted authorities.
This is not the first time Al-Uqaily has made the news: last May, he performed a reenactment of a scene from the Abu-Ghraib prison. In the height of irony, this would-be jihadist still surrounded himself with slogans from that demonstration:
Painted in black letters across splotches of bright colors on the van were a series of slogans that echoed Al-Uqaily's Lower Broadway demonstration in May: ''I pray all soldiers lay down their guns.'' ''War won't work.'' ''Stop killing kids for oil.'' And, ''Moses, Jesus & Mohammed all talk peace.''Talk of peace, but plot to kill civilians in small-town America. Somehow, I don't think that is what Jesus had in mind.
