About AlphaPatriot

In real life, AlphaPatriot is Darrell Carden.

The views presented on this site in no way reflects those of my employer, family, friends, acquaintances or distant cousins as these generally fall into three categories: the smart ones that agree with me, those that tolerate me because of my wit, charm, great intellect and modesty, and those who think that I'm a raving wingnut who's one Kennedy away from going medieval on the next vegan moonbat that barks.

Pathetic Websense

Congratulations to Pathetic Earthlings for posting enough questionable material for his blog to be added to the "adult content" category of Websense.

Now people like me (who sit behind the great censoring firewalls at work) will be able to see the title of his post (like this intriguingly titled I'm finally somebody which led to this discovery) but as he only has 195 characters defined to his RSS feed, we are unable to read his blog. I cant' even get to his website to find his email address and send him a message about it.

Sorry Homo Miseratio, either upgrade your RSS feed (which you should do anyway) or people aren't going to be stopping by as often.

Hopefully this will serve as an unfortunate warning to bloggers everywhere.

Side note: I found a cool English to Latin translator while composing the above post.

Update: A colleague pointed me to Megaproxy which allows me to circumvent our Websense software and view Andrew's post, although it did not allow me to post a comment.

However, I encourage you to follow the link provided by Andrew. The government, by not appealing a case, is perhaps signaling a strengthening of property rights?

A multimillion-dollar settlement reached quietly during Christmas week between California farmers and the Bush administration is likely to lead to more lawsuits seeking big payouts from taxpayers.

The $16.7 million settlement cements, for the first time, a court finding that government efforts to protect endangered species violate the constitutional protection of property rights....

The case, known as Tulare Lake, marks the first time a court has found the government's enforcement of the Endangered Species Act a violation of the Fifth Amendment prohibition against taking private property without compensation, according to the farmers' lawyer in the case, Roger Marzulla.

I wish that Andrew would break his promise not to comment on his professional specialty ("water law") and expand on the impact of this action.
