Google Emps Supports Democrats

Google employees gave $207,650 to federal candidates for last year's elections, up from just $250 in 2000 when it was still a start-up. And 98% went to Democrats, the biggest share among top tech donors, a new USA TODAY campaign finance analysis shows. ...

But Google giving could soar. The Silicon Valley company's initial public offering last August minted scores of millionaires among its 3,000 workers, giving them more to lavish on politics. That makes Google a Capitol Hill force, with sharply different implications for the two main political parties, says Larry Noble, head of the Center for Responsive Politics.

Hmm...that is very sad to hear. Especially since I am a fan of Google's. Although many in the Google community are democrats, the fact that they don't think greatly disturbs me (they have knowledge, but no wisdom). Selah!

There's a BIG difference between 'Google Supports Democrats' and 'People Who Happen to Work for Google Support Democrats'.

What exactly are you upset about? Do you think the company should ban anyone who works for it from making donations to political parties?

Should Democrats likewise begin targeting your employer because you donate to Republicans?

Point taken, especially as the founders have not given money. I have changed the post title to reflect this.

However, I go to great lengths to avoid using Google services (and never click on a Google Ad) because of their anti-gun bias. Yahoo search and Yahoo news are perfectly acceptable alternatives, although I must admit that Google Maps rule.

I too love gmail and google. I have just been enlightened to these facts about their support of the Dems. I wish to have nothing to do with them in light of this. Beside Yahoo, are there any other more conservative email providers available?
Thanks.

Excellent question. Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft (Hotmail) are all libs. AOL and TimeWarner are also libs.

On the other hand, as far as I know using gmail doesn't give any revenue to Google. You are, of course, helping them get better by participating in what is really a giant beta but that's better than giving money.
