In real life, AlphaPatriot is Darrell Carden.

The views presented on this site in no way reflects those of my employer, family, friends, acquaintances or distant cousins as these generally fall into three categories: the smart ones that agree with me, those that tolerate me because of my wit, charm, great intellect and modesty, and those who think that I'm a raving wingnut who's one Kennedy away from going medieval on the next vegan moonbat that barks.

"And Loving It!"

Don Adams died of a lung infection today at the age of 82.

A former standup comedian, Don Adams got his big break when he got the starring role as Maxwell Smart in the television series Get Smart.Agent89.jpg The character dedicated to "fight rottenness". Undermanned and underfunded good guys of Control vs. hundreds of KAOS agents. Shoe phones, belt buckle tape recorders, guns disguised as rubber ducks and the ever-ineffective Cone of Silence. "Would you believe . . .", "And loving it!" and "Sorry about that, Chief!" The beautiful Agent 99.

138 episodes giving us five years of laughter — and a childhood memory I'll never forget.

As a child I watched every episode of Get Smart. My father hated it, disliking all things slap-stick, but indulged me. But worse still I picked up the habit of saying "Sorry about that, Chief!" every time I made a mistake. No matter how many times I flipped that off to my father, he always successfully resisted the urge to backhand me, although I could tell that it was at times a real struggle.

One day I was helping him nail some boards together. He was holding the boards in place with one hand and had the hammer in the other so I held the nail so he could get it started. He uncharacteristically missed the nail and got my thumb. As I was hopping around trying not to howl he looked at me and with perfect sincerity said, "Sorry about that, Chief!".

I couldn't help but laugh and I don't think I ever used that phrase again.
